Little kids drink coffee in Sweden. 5 isn't unusual.
A
parent who would give their young child Coke would get glares, but it's
essentially sugar and water plus less caffeine than coffee and
phosphoric acid to make it bubbly. And the sugar in Coke is less than in
apple juice. (Some people worry about high fructose corn syrup.)
There's no nutritional reason to give a child coke or coffee but it won't hurt them.
Malt
is just germinated -- not fermented -- grain. It makes the grain a bit
sweeter and is used as a flavoring in things like Ovaltine and Malted
Milk Balls and malted milk shakes. (In beer the malt is used in
fermenting but malt itself is just grain.) It used to be added as a
nutritional booster but I'm guessing it's not all that impressive
anymore compared to other ways of boosting nutrition (or not stripping
the nutrition from food in the first place.)
